You may remember Salient Corporation as Computer Recruiters Corporation, or CRC, founded in 1992 in Portland, Oregon. CRC was a general IT staffing firm focusing initially on software and tools running on the IBM AS400 platform for clients in the Pacific Northwest. As technology evolved, so did our clients’ requests for high-level, business savvy professionals with specialized expertise such as experience in specific ERP modules.

In 2003, we changed our name to Salient Corporation, modified our core business, and re-branded our services to better characterize the type of clients and candidates we’ve been working with. We also expanded our client base to include a nationwide market.

Why the name “Salient”?

• The word derives from the Latin salire, to leap. Our philosophy is just that: We leap or spring forward into action when searching for outstanding technology talent for our clients.
   
• Salient also means primary or outstanding. We take a salient role for our clients, serving as their hightech headhunter in specialized marketplaces, allowing them to stay focused on their business.
   
• We take pride in working with the most salient, or remarkable, technology professionals in the field.

Regardless of what we call ourselves, the foundation we laid for our business over 16 years ago has not wavered: to provide our customers—candidates and companies alike—with excellent, relationship-driven service. The fact that 90% of our business comes from referrals speaks to our credentials.
